Wheel CareWheel Cleaning

Overview

Ever wonder how to properly clean your wheels?

To start, using the right products and methods will lead to the best results. Follow these step to ensure you are successful in cleaning your wheels properly and safely to reduce the potential for damage.

What you will need:

  • Bucket
  • A soap that is safe for wheels
  • Microfiber towel and wash mitt
  • Scratch proof bristle wheel brush
  • Spray wax to clean wheels once washed

*Tip: Use a different wash brush and microfiber towel/wash mitt then you use on other parts of your vehicle. This will help the significantly increase the potential of scratching the finish on your wheels.

STEP 1: RINSE WHEELS WITH WATER

Start by spraying down wheels to loosen up any contaminants that are stuck on the wheels.
You can use a high-pressure washer for optimal results but is not mandatory. A hose with a spray nozzle will work just fine.

STEP 2: WASH WHEELS WITH AUTOMOTIVE SOAP OR SOAP THAT IS SAFE FOR WHEELS

Combine automotive soap with water and generously wash wheels with scratch proof bristle wheel brush. You can also use your wash mitt to get into spots the wheel brush couldn’t reach.

*Note: We do not recommend using harsh wheel and tire chemicals. This is not necessary as soap and water will be the most effective way to clean your wheels. This method also reduces the chance of damaging your wheels.

STEP 4: RINSE WHEELS COMPLETELY AND DRY WITH MICROFIBER TOWEL

Once steps 1-3 are completed, completely rinse wheels. Rinse the inside, outside and the tires. Be sure to also rinse suspension, paint on the surrounding areas as well as brake parts. It is entirely possible that they may have gotten soap on them during this process. Use a microfiber towel with spray wax (optional) and hand dry every single wheel.
